KELLY PARK (Bachelor's of Music, Jazz Composition, and
Arranging, Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA) and FORMER
FACULTY member of Berklee, is offering a 12-week course in
jazz/popular music theory and harmony beginning on Tuesday,
January
11 through Tuesday, March 29, 2011.
*The system being taught will be the EXACT SAME information
taught by a "famous East Coast jazz conservatory" and
presented by
one of a handful of Bay Area musicians who have taught harmony,
theory, and arranging at the Berklee College of Music.
*The material will be presented in a SAFE and SUPPORTIVE
environment. Anyone seeking to gain an understanding of jazz
and
popular music (as the harmony of jazz, pop, and indeed,
classical music all fall under the umbrella of European harmony)
can greatly benefit from the materials learned in this class,
REGARDLESS OF YOUR CURRENT KNOWLEDGE OF MUSIC THEORY.
*This is a STEP BY STEP METHODICAL APPROACH that is a PROVEN
METHOD of gaining an understanding of music theory. It is
not a
"random approach" that many have experienced taking
harmony and
theory courses elsewhere.
*A portion of this class will be devoted to the UNDERSTANDING
OF
RHYTHM, one of the most commonly misunderstood and most
important aspects of music. Students will come away from
this
class with a thorough grounding in rhythmic concept.
*The course shall run from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday
evenings
(with a short break) at a studio in Walnut Creek.
*The cost of the course is $800.00 if paid in four payments,
or
$750.00 if paid in full before the start of the first class.
A
non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is due before the first
class
to reserve a spot. Installments will be due on Jan. 11
($250.00), Feb. 8 ($250.00), and Mar. 8 ($200.00). At full
price
this is about $44.00 per hour.
*There is a "cancellation/class make-up policy" available
for
viewing on the "Theory/Harmony Course" page at
www.kellyparkmusic.com.
